Before I get started today I understand some of you are getting multiple posts when we blog. I apologize but something goes on with the internet and the darned thing sends 2 or even 3 posts to some of our readers. Sorry…
My last blog mentioned psshing and “bird islands”. My sweetheart Debbie, found her own bird island to pssh from. As you can see from the picture, she found a likely looking place consisting of rock-piles amongst some plants that had gone to seed. Ahh…Looks like she did well. Here’s a Lark Sparrow that came close to her psshing. Good going Debbie!
Then, on the rocks was an exceptional bird. A Rock Wren is keeping an eye out for danger from above. Let’s hope it stays safe.
Debbie didn’t get mobbed like I was but she shot some very nice birds. She even got a Yellow Warbler, how cool is that?
We meet up and compare notes. Then it’s time to head for the barn. On the way back, Debbie spots a bird perched on a bush out in the open. The GISS is that of a Logger-head Shrike. Sure enough, that’s what it is. This bird spooks easily but Debbie still managed a very good photo.
We were out in the field for maybe 4 hours this day. Had a fun-filled time being out on the quads, psshing up birds in bird islands and just being together.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays Everyone! ChrisnDebbie
