Back amongst our Baja Birds

What a pleasure it is to see our feathered Baja friends again.  Baja birds are so colorful and their behavior is unmatched.

This morning we observed the Hooded Orioles mating.   Something we had seen before but never in this manner.  The male was  holding on to the bougainvillea branch upside down and the female was on top.  Never have we observed mating behavior in this manner by any bird.  Our baja birds….never ceasing to amaze us.  It’s great to be back amongst them.

You’ll find original photos of the Hooded Orioles in “Birds We See in Baja California Sur, Mexico”.  Just click on the “order books” link above and order your copy and copies for your Christmas list today.  This is a terrific Christmas gift for any loved one.

    Hey Marinero,

    Thank you for your comment.

Yes, that’s what was so surprising to me. I’ve never seen that in the birding world before and that’s one thing I love about observing birds, especially in their mating habits, you never know what you will see. The communication is so orchestrated. I just love it.

    Female on top? Who knew?
